Welcome...

to the pages of the “Lebensdorf Project”

Living beneficially!

How is it possible to develop holistic processes of healing and sustainable life styles in community? Can we be in the pulse of life and put out wholesome impulses of life to the world at the same time?

To find out whether this is possible and also to implement it, we want to create a space somewhere in Germany for living, unfolding and making an impact, while striving towards a sustainable and beneficial interaction of plants, animals, humans and all other manifestations of nature.

This shall be realized by setting up a “Lebensdorf” ( Life Village )

Several hundred people shall be able to find a meaningful home there, temporarily and/or permanently.

The development shall be constantly monitored by critical self-reflection and scientific research.

To prepare this village community we have, already:

- visited numerous communities world-wide and started co-building community networks.

- installed several “Creative Groups”, which develop ideas, concepts and actions to certain issues.

- founded the association “Lebensdorf e.V”

- arranged a number of public events like camps, information evenings, issue-related gatherings, permaculture courses, etc ...

- and thought, planned, written, done much more.

We plan to move onto the site of the village in 2012. Until then there will be a lot of movement in the project! If you want to move with us, feel very welcome to do so! It might be fun! ;-)

Further reading regarding our idea

The idea of the Lebensdorf Project is nurtured by different and at the same time similar dreams and needs. Our intentions are for example:

  • creating a healing space for all beings

  • cross-generational living, so that one day we might be able to invite with the words: “Hey Mum, there is a little house waiting for you in this peaceful place;)”

  • a common craving for a place to live together in deep respect of the others, where free development of personality is possible without dogmatic restrictions.

  • living sustainably and holistically, e.g. by eating healthy local food; building active energy houses; using renewable energy sources, etc...

  • faced by the alienation of humans by materialism, the capitalistic world of work, “hostile” globalisation, etc, we want to set up something positive in contrast. Instead of just ranting about the problems, we want to constructively design and build our own village and connected systems.

  • create meaningful home spaces

  • and much more ...

Due to thoughts like these, we will start building a holistic “Lebensdorf” in Germany in the year 2012. The long-term goal is to house several hundred permanent residents.

With the village we want to set healing impulses for ourselves, for guests, for the region, for society and in the final instance for the whole world.

With our common direction of living we want to design alternatives to the predominant patterns of all fields of society (important areas are ecology, economy, health care and social welfare)

At the same time we remain wide open to creativity, music, play, art, philosophy, spirituality, fun, craziness...

Despite, or maybe because of our passion for living and enjoying life, we are aware of a global social and political responsibility which forces us to pragmatically work on the implementation of our ideas and ideals.

Our sense of responsibility is also the basis for our “PermaCultTours”. These travels into the world aim at the development of the worlds within ourselves and the establishment of various connections to the world around us. We travel to learn what works and why and how in various projects at various places – or what doesn't succeed why and how. This way we can gain precious insights from comprehensive experiences of others for our own project, and embed ourselves in a network of global friendship.
